Sausage Factory
Sausage Factory
Have you ever heard of Richmond Sausages? Well.. the company began its life in Bootle.
In 1889, a family butcher shop based in Litherland started to make sausages that they called Richmond. They became so popular that the family was then able to hire local people and establish a factory to continue production. The factory itself was a local landmark with an eye-catching pig sign.
Unfortunately, it does not still stand today.

Did you know?
The factory would have huge vats of fat for the sausage making process. This was quite handy during the War when a bomb fell on the factory. Luckily, the bomb landed in the big vat and that stopped it from going off.
